Stardate:2406.02.04 (USS Nimitz - Conference Room - OPs - Lieutenant Dartena Bixx - 1158) Dartena strolled into the Conference room, smiling at Devan as she went. Since his recovery they'd enjoyed a few more strolls on the holodeck. She was glad for them after coming so close to losing him. She looked at the pair at the one end of the table, "Hello Sirs," and then glanced at the young enlisted woman sitting at the table as well. She cast Devan a quizzical glance. (Reply Sash iyw) Looking around the rooms she saw a couple new faces, including the young woman and a lizardlike petty officer in science blues. She also saw Ensign Janeway and smiled at him, choosing a seat next to him. "Hello Crewman... Petty Officer," she said nodding to both the young woman and the petty officer. "Hello Sir," stated T'lex nodding and smiling at her, "I am Petty Officer T'lexinath of the science division." Dartena regarded him and smiled, "I'm Lieutenant Dartena Bixx, I work OPs. Good to meet you, both of you." (Reply Rozen) "Hello Jono, haven't seen you on the bridge in awhile. Been busy patrolling the halls?" she asked with a wink and a smile. (Reply Janeway) (Posted by Jeff) Stardate:2407.02.04 (Starbase Geneva - Gym - Bridge System Specialist -Yeoman Ansia Rozen - 0600) Ansia liked getting to the gym early in the morning, most people were still either asleep or working. She liked practicing with her weapons, they gave her a sense of being. The only true friends that she ever had. While she was practicing, she was thought more on things that either happened the day before or were going to happen. Sense arriving Geneva and being told that she would have to wait for the Nimitz to arrive, she tried to evaluate what happened in the academy. Spending four years in the academy, then, leaving as a crewman was not exactly what she had in mind. They said it was more her attitude toward other members was the reason. They said to be an officer, she had to get along with others better than she had. They would not listen to the reasons behind what happened during her four years. They said an officer would have found a better way of handling the problems she stated. So, they had graduated her, but, had given her an enlisted rank of Crewman and told that if she could learn to cope, then, she could reapply for a commission, if she so desired. Could she help it, as a Full Betazoid, that she had none of the telepathic abilities they usually were born with? It seems that only one percent of one percent were ever born like her. She had gone through her entire life paying for the way she had been born like she had a choice. All her classmates in school on Betazed made her feel unwanted and a freak. The only thing that made her feel any better was the fact that she had the more than natural skill at hand to hand fighting and the use of hand weapons. She was able to at least make most of her younger classmates to at least leave her alone, maybe not respect her, but, leave her alone. In the academy, she tried her best to accomplish her school work, but, some subjects did not come as easy to her as others. She really did not have any friends that would help her, so, she just pressed on. Some subjects like the physical education where she was able to practice her martial arts or even the federation standard physical training, she loved. When she could, after classes and studying, she would get a pass to go to the pool and swim laps until she was too tired to do any more. Swimming worked on those muscle groups that could not be exercised as easily otherwise. Computers came somewhat easy to her as did languages, which, surprised her of all the subjects. She had enjoyed learning the administration side of how Starfleet and Starships were ran. Being assigned as a Bridge Systems specialist seemed to her might be fun. The one thing that she really had a hard time with in the academy, was energy weapons. They actually scared her, but, she never admitted it. She always thought that the only good place around her when she had a phaser in her hand was not in the same area. She had finally barely passed the course, but, she thought it was just luck. She didn’t like phasers, they were too impersonal. She liked hand weapons where she could get up and personal with her opponent. She always like to study the look her opponent gave her when they fought. It helped her know what her opponent was going to do before they did. (Starbase Geneva - Personal Quarters - Bridge System Specialist - Yeoman Ansia Rozen - 0800) Sweating and her gym clothes wet with the fruits of her vigorous workout, Ansia entered her temporary quarters. Throwing her gym bag on the bed, she started to remove her outfit heading for the shower. She wanted to go get a little breakfast before coming back to study more about the Nimitz, the captain and the crew. After her shower, she went to the replicator to get some coffee and toast with grape jam. She then sat down at her console bringing up the info on the Nimitz that she wanted to read. While she brushed out her hair and ate her toast, she read or better yet studied. The information she studied would help her. She wanted to fit in with the crew and knowing something of what the Nimitz and Crew had been through in their last mission and some of her past missions. Knowing this would give her a bit of an insight as to how well the crew not only functioned as a team, but, how they reacted personally. She was not sure how she would be able to work with the First Officer, Commander Hyland. He seemed to be a really crusty individual that liked no one and was a stickler for doing it by the book mostly. It seemed that the crew was not so happy with him either and she could understand. Taking another sip of coffee, she looked over the captain, a Captain Devan Sash. He had a long history and it was interesting to read. He seemed to be one captain that she would like to work for, just and fair as far as she could find out. He was highly respected and admired amongst his peers. Working for him should prove to be interesting. Just as she was finishing up with her reading about Sash, an indication that a message was waiting for her came in. Closing the Sash report and opening the incoming message, she saw that it was from her parents. As she read the message, she found out that it was not one to start the day off with. Her parents told her in no uncertain conditions that she had embarrassed the family with the outcome of the academy. If they had thought she would act like that, they would never had allowed her to attend. With tears running down her face she read the last of the message that did not end in ‘we love you and are proud of you’, but, we are ashamed of you. Deleting the message and wiping her face she moved over to discard her coffee cup and saucer. Then she got dressed for the day. =/\=Operations to Crewman Rozen, The USS Nimitz will be docking within the hour. Make preparations to report to your new duty section. You have enough time to gather your things and turn in your quarters before reporting to the waiting area.=/\= "Understood, Thanks, Crewman Rozen out." She replied and started packing her things after she got dressed in her uniform. Before she left, she made sure that the quarters looked the same as when she moved into them. She took what little stuff she had taken with her and headed to the waiting area for the Nimitz to arrive. (Starbase Geneva - Ship waiting area - Bridge System Specialist - Yeoman Ansia Rozen - 1100) She had been sitting waiting for the Nimitz to arrive when she finally saw it entering the Starbase docking area. It was a magnificent ship, much better than what she read and saw over her console. She knew instantly that she was going to enjoy her assignment aboard her. She sat there watching as the Nimitz slowly came in and docked. She picked up her stuff and got into line for her to process through customs before boarding. It wasn’t overly long line to wait in, but, her anticipation was so high that it seemed that she would never get onboard. As she waited she saw some of the crew off load for some unknown reason, probably shore leave as far as she knew. Then, she was at the head of the line and processing in. As she walked up to the airlock, she noticed an officer standing checking everyone in. When she finally came up her turn to enter, she stopped, "Crewman Ansia Rozen, Bridge system specialist, Yeoman to Captain Sash, Permission to come aboard." "Welcome aboard Crewman Rozen, report to the bridge and Captain Sash. Follow the instructions on the view screen on the walls." The officer informed her then he moved to the next person in line. Moving along she noticed that there were computer view screen on a nearby wall. She stopped there and asked it to show her the way to the bridge. After it displayed the way, she headed there. (USS Nimitz - Bridge - Bridge Systems Specialist - Yeoman Ansia Rozen - 1130) Ansia walked slowly out of the turbolift with anticipation and reservation as to what she would find. She looked around the bridge quickly seeing that it was exactly as she had seen on her console when she was studying the Nimitz. She then knew exactly where the captain would be sitting if he was on the bridge, so, she looked there first. She noticed a security officer just outside of the turbolift and she surmised that he was there to keep an eye on the bridge crew or at least the captain while they were at station. "Permission to enter the bridge sir." She asked the security officer "Permission granted Crewman Ansia Rozen." The man said "he is in his ready room. Press the door chime and wait." It surprised her to see that he already knew who she was, but, then it dawned on her that the officer at the airlock would have alerted security of her arrival to the bridge to report to the captain. She walked over to the ready room and pressed the door chime, feeling the stares at her back seemingly to burn right through her. After she stood there looking at the door for several minutes, she finally heard the order to enter. Taking a deep breath to steady her nerves, she entered and reported to the captain. (reply Sash, any) (posted by Frank) Stardate:2407.02.04 (Starbase Geneva- Admiral LoDona's Office- CO- Captain Devan Sash- 0815) "With all due respect, Admiral," Captain Devan Sash said calmly, "you people are out of your ever lovin' minds. That is, without a doubt, one of the craziest schemes I've ever heard." Admiral Robert LoDona, sat back and sighed heavily. "Be that as it may, Captain, those are your orders." Sash had known Robert LoDona for a long time. He recognized the tone of his voice. it was final. And they had just been asked to do the crziest thing he'd ever heard of, and that's saying something. "So let's move past that and decide how to make things work for you." Sash nodded. There wasn't anything left to discuss on the mission. However, his crew status was something else. He knew that this was going to happen. After recieving mulitple crew complaints, and his own experiences, Sah had been noticing that he was not having the influence over Jeff Hyland that he'd hoped. And he could not go into a mission like this with an FO that his crew couldn't relate to. "I need to talk to you about Jeff Hyland," Sash said. "Yes," LoDona replied, "I got your report, and your request. Request granted. Unfortunately I don't have anyone in the wings. Your best bet for a replacement would be your STratOps officer. I know you barely know him, but he would never have made StratOps if he wasn't worth it." Sash nodded. he was well aware of Richard Lee's training methods, and had a good "feeling" about Lt. commander Wolfe. "Then that does it." LoDona just nodded. "Then you're dismissed Captain Sash. Good luck." Sash nodded and picked up the padds LoDona had laid out on the table before him. He turned and headed for the door. The door opened and Sash turned to say something, but nothing came to mind, so he just turned and exited. As the door closed Sash stopped and looked back again and said to himself, "I'm pretty sure that we're going to need it." (Starbase Geneva- Calahan's Bar - CO- Captain Devan Sash- 0830) it really wasn't that hard for Sash to track Hyland down. He had a general idea where he could find anyway. The thing about a station like Geneva is that since it ran on several shifts most of the dining and drinking establishments were open at all times. Even still, there was a general sense amongst humans that drinking before noon was frowned upon. However, many other cultures didn't share in this belief, so Calahan's Bar wasn't quite empty. However, it wasn't booming either. Sash found what he was looking for sitting at the bar. Jeff Hyland, with glass half emptied of some blue liquid. The captain made his way over to the bar and sat on the stool next the Hyland. the bartender came over and Sash asked for a glass of water. Hyland looked at Sash and Sash nodded. "A little early for that, isn't it Commander?" "I am off duty Sir, but, I am sure that my drinking is not what is on your mind." Hyland replied. He had not really had a drink in a few days and stayed away from it when Sash was in sickbay so he would be totally sober when and if anything happened. So, he felt he deserved one at an earlier time. "Indeed," Sash nodded. The bartender brought him his water and he took a drink. There was an uncomfortable silence between the two men. Then Sash took a deep breath and spoke. "Jeff, you and I have known each other for a while. We've never been known to mince words with each other, so I'm going to be blunt. I'm removing you as FO of the Nimitz. I've read my last report complaining about you. I need someone that can get things done without making the crew feel like they're substandard." He paused for a moment then continued. "I want you to get some help. You need counseling. Don't roll your eyes at me. You need help dealing with your feelings. Until you get it, you're no good to me." Sash slid a padd across the bar. "You've been transfered here to Geneva. They have a program already for you. You just need to go through the door." Jeff looked down at the padd that Sash had slid over, considering it slowly. Then he put his hand down as if to pick it up, but, before he did he looked back at Sash. "Putting Bixx on report for not reporting for duty at her appointed time was not the best thing to do was it, my friend?" He felt he could address him as such since technically he was no longer his superior. Jeff had already had decided to talk to Counselor Harrison on the Nimitz, but, now it was planned out for him not by him. "Well," Sash had to admitt, "that sure didn't help. Look Jeff, you could be a great FO, one of the best, but you need help. Bixx was just the tip of the ice berg. And I know you've been more descrete about this activity," he pointed to the drink in Hylands hand, "but you have a problem, a real problem, and if you don't take care of it, it's going to cost you a lot more than your career." Jeff considered Sash’s words and knew that he was speaking the truth that he had told himself so many times before, but, he never had the strength to get the help he needed. After the mission and the death of Maestri Toshar'i in instead of him, made him want to get help even more. He wanted that sacrifice to mean something and now he knew it would be. Smiling now, he looked from his drink back to Sash, "I am thankful that I had this time with a friend that could show me the way. I will take what you have offered me and run with it my friend. Oh, and to let you know, the drink in my hand has been there for some time and I have yet to drink of it." Replied Jeff as he finally put it down and pushed it away. "I wish you all the luck with your upcoming mission my friend and I hope that I see you again after it." Jeff finished then stood up and offered his hand to Sash. Sash nodded and took Hylands hand. Then with a tug pulled him into an embrace. "Thank you," he said softly, "we're going to need it." "I will have my stuff out in an hour and will be at the appropriate location after that. Thanks Sash for your help." Jeff replied just before releasing Sash’s hand and watch him walk out the bar. Jeff also left the bar shortly thereafter, leaving his drink untouched. (USS Nimitz- Bridge- CO- Captain Devan Sash- 0900) Sash steped onto the bridge and looked around. He caught Darteena's eye and she smiled at him. Sash nodded back at her and gave her a weak smile. It was all he could muster. Her smile drooped a little as she looked concerned. He shook his head, as if mentally telling her, later. Looking over at the command chair, he found Edward Wolfe, sitting quite comfortably. As he leapt to his feet Sash nodded at him. "Lt. commander, please join me in my Ready Room," Sash directed. At that, Sash went into his ready room and sat at his desk. "Aye Sir," Edward looked at the Captain for a second, wondering if he had done something wrong. He'd moved from the command chair as soon as the ranking officer arrived. Mentally he replayed his performance over the last few days and couldn't think of anything specifically wrong. He followed his captain into the readyroom. (USS Nimitz- Ready Room- CO- Captain Devan Sash- 0902) When Wolfe came in Sash offered him the chair across from him. Then Sash looked at him. "Mr. Wolfe," he began, "your arrival on Nimitz has been, interesting, to say the least. We haven't really gotten an opportunity to get to know one another." "Yes Sir, I know. Things have been busy. I know I've been making a fair number of demands on engineering to update the StratOps centre, but I feel its a necessary thing if we're going to be involved in this war," blurted Edward, "but I assure you, I do know what I'm doing." He figured this could be the only real complaint at this moment. "To be honest," Sash said, standing up and coming around the desk, "you come highly recommended." Sash sat on the edge of his desk. "What do yo think of the Nimitz so far?" "Honestly Sir? Well, you have a good crew. Some of your systems need updates, and some of your personnel need to be rotated to different shifts to give them a chance at more leadership roles. But overall, I believe that its a good ship, and the people are excellent," replied Edward carefully. Sash nodded at his assesment. "I have a proposition for you. I find myself in need of a new FO. How do you feel about taking on the responsibilities that you just laid out to me? And a little more." Edward looked at the captain, stunned. "Wha... what about Commander Hyland, Sir? I mean... well... I want the job, but..." Sash nodded. "Ah yes, well, Commander Hyland will not be able to join us. He is on another mission, which will take him from the Nimitz. His skills are required on Geneva. However, your skills are required right here, and right now. What do you say Lt. commander, are you game? I can promise youonly one thing, if you agree, you'll probably live to regret it." Edward chuckled, "Well, Sir, I've been some pretty good scrapes on the Augustus, and I've never regretted one yet, I don't see why I'd shy away from this challenge. I'm definitely 'game'." Sash smiled and stood. "Excellent, excellent." He went behind his desk and sat down again. Computer, record that Lt. Commander Edward Wolfe is hearby promoted to First Officer of the USS Nimitz, authorization Sash Alpha Phi Omega 13." [Recorded. First Officer, Edward Wolfe, Lt. commander] Sash sighed, "Well, Lt. Commander, I'm afraid that we're going to have to hit the ground running, as the saying goes. We're a little behind schedule with the rest of the fleet. Your original job was to organize our battle fleet, and that still needs to be done. We have to coordinate a strike in the Alpha Quadrant. We also have some very special plans to make. This might take a while." "Special plans Sir? What exactly would these 'special plans' be?" asked Edward, unsure of anything but their present orders to proceed with a battle group against Doenitz's forces. "Let me do this first." Sash tapped the comm channel on his desk. "Captain Sash to all personell, there will be a general staff meeting at 1200 hours in the main conference room. Come prepared for full reports. Sash out." Then Sash turned to Wolfe. He handed him the first padd that LoDona had given him and began to go through the initial reports leading up to their current mission. (reply all) (posted by Al Muir, Frank Rogers, and Jeff Bergeron) Stardate:2407.02.04 (USS Nimitz - Deck 2, Personal Quarters - ACMO Dr. Jonas Lemar - 0822) Jonas had been in a fantastic mood for the past 4 days, ever since he received word that the Nimitz was heading back to Geneva. It had been many weeks since they had returned to the main base of operations and Jonas was eagerly looking forward to it. He had arrange to start his shift an hour later than usual, a special request that BigWill had granted him so he could make a quick visit to the starbase for "supplies". Now he just waited. He sat on the comfortable sofa underneath the bay window, watching as the Nimitz circled and approached the starbase, just as he always loved to do. It didn't take long for the alert lights to from blue to white, and as soon as they did Jonas picked up his dataPADD and marched out of his quarters. (Starbase Geneva - Deck 16, Main Medical - ACMO Dr. Jonas Lemar - 0834) The place hadn't changed much in the weeks since he had been there, although he really didn't know why he expected it to. The medical facilities onboard Geneva were enormous, like a hospital, nothing like the smaller facilities onboard the Nimitz. He remembered his first time here, how he had to sneak into the facilities to have a look around. Back then he was green, fresh from the academy, and although he had only been in the fleet for 2 or 3 months, the things he had experienced made it feel like a lot longer. Jonas walked right up the lady on the reception desk. She smiled up at him, fluttering her eyelashes. He remembered her vividly from his first visit. Back then she had been flirting with a security officer who he had later learned was instructed to follow him. He never did find out exactly what for - classified! "Can you please tell me where to find Doctor Wendy Kildare?" He smiled, "I have some supplies I need to collect from her." The woman smiled, but Jonas could tell she was a little put out by the request. ~Maybe she thought her luck was in~ Jonas thought to himself as he listened to the directions given by the woman. He nodded politely and thanked her, moving off to one of the corridors beyond, heading for medical bay 6B. It didn't take him long to locate it, after all he had spent quite some time at these facilities during his days before the Nimitz, getting the hands on experience of the medical procedure. As he approached the correct doorway, it slid open to admit him. A nurse approached him with a smile. "Yes doctor, may I help you?" The nurse said politely, wondering who this new doctor was. Jonas handed the dataPADD to the nurse, "Yes, I'm from the Nimitz, here to collect some supplies for Doctor Kinkaid." He looked around the bay but could not see who he was looking for. "Could you get these prepared for me?" "The nurse took the dataPADD, quickly scanned it over and nodded, "Of course doctor" As she turned to walk away Jonas stopped her, "Can you tell me where I can find Doctor Kildare?" He smiled, hoping that she wasn't in ear shot. He wanted to surprise her. Because the return of the Nimitz to Geneva had been such short notice, Jonas hadn't sent her a message to tell her. The nurse indicated toward one of the enclosures and walked off to collect the things on the dataPADD list. Jonas walked toward the bay quickly, but light footed, and put his head around the partition. It was then he saw her. Wendy stood before him, her back to him as she examined something under some kind of apparatus. "So, do you have time to give me a quick physical?" Jonas stepped out, opening his arms wide. (reply: Kildare IYW, any) (USS Nimitz - Deck 3, Section 12a - ACMO Dr. Jonas Lemar - 0904) Jonas had boarded the ship with no complications at all. As he had been gone for less than an hour there were a lot of usual regulations he was allowed to skip over - that and the fact he had a pass from the CMO which gave him the necessary privilege. Jonas turned a corner and headed to the turbolift. He checked the chronometer on his dataPADD, then quickened his pace. ~Great, I'm already late for my duty shift~ he thought, knowing he was due to start at 0900. Just then a voice came over the comm. System, =^= Captain Sash to all personnel, there will be a general staff meeting at 1200 hours in the main conference room. Come prepared for full reports. Sash out. =^= ~That means we have our new orders...already~ Jonas let out a sigh as he stepped into the turbolift. "I hoped we might get a chance to stay longer" he said out loud to himself. [Please restate your request] The familiar chirp came from the computer system. Jonas couldn't help but smile as the computer took his muttering for a command. He looked up and stated clearly, "Deck 10, sickbay" The computer chirped a confirmation and the doors slid closed, the turbolift gliding into action. (USS Nimitz - Deck 10, Sickbay - ACMO Dr. Jonas Lemar - 0907) Jonas had quickened his pace to a jog and was speeding his way down the corridors toward sickbay. Then the door was in sight and Jonas headed straight for it. He ran straight into sickbay and stopped just short of colliding with a nurse carrying a tray of culture specimens. She looked at him, a startled look in her eyes, "Good...good morning doctor" she said, quickly returning to her business. Jonas blushed, partly as he was a little embarrassed, partly because he was still catching his breathe from the short jog. "Sorry I'm late everyone!" "It's from a scientist who is no longer able to live with what’s being done with their work. The agent that delivered this reported that he no longer had to. Doenitz had him executed." Edward shook his head slowly, "Are they sending us a temporal specialist at least? Someone who understands the... physics... of this kind of thing?" He still had the remainder of his bridge shift to complete. He also had a few other necessities to take care of now. He scanned the expectant faces of the crew on duty and walked towards the centre seat. "Computer, recognize and log transfer of bridge protocols and priviledges to Lieutenant Commander Edward Wolfe as First Officer. Transfer all protocols for First Officer on bridge under that name and designation. Authorization Wolfe omicron four nine two sigma." [Bridge protocols and priviledges transferred.] With that, Edward sat down and began looking through the crew manifests. Some changes were definitely in order. He tapped the comm button on the command chair. "Computer, process and send orders for the following to meet me in the First Officer's office at 1030hrs. [Orders processed and logged.] (Reply none) (Posted by Jeff) Stardate:2407.02.04 (USS Nimitz - Bridge - Ops - Ensign Rizoru - 0930) Riz had a long shift, and she wasn’t sure she was ready for a meeting with the freshly made first officer. She checked the time, and found she had about an hour to kill before she had to report to him, so she went to the mess hall to see if she could get a decent meal first. Once she was sitting down with a hot plate of something strange looking in front of her, she found that she had no idea what she just ordered. It was what she had heard the person before her order, and she didn’t want to wait for the computer to realize it didn’t know her type of food. She looked down at what was in front of her, and she found some kind of noodle stuff with round meat in something red. She had heard what it was called, but she couldn’t remember the name. She had never had this before, and she wasn’t sure how she should have eaten it. She tried to use the utensils, but she was having nothing but trouble. She took it back, getting some meat instead, which she had no trouble eating at all. She walked out of the mess hall, and headed to her quarters to get a shower before her meeting. She realized she had yet to unpack as well. She entered the turbo lift, and found it empty, with a quiet ride to her deck. She entered her quarters, and found her bag right where she left it, on her bed. She walked over and sighed, knowing that she needed to unpack, glad that she didn’t have any clothes in there. She saw the robe she had arrived in hanging in her closet, and she moved it to the back of the closet, not wanting to remember where she came from. She switched her thoughts to the tasks she wanted to have accomplished before heading to that meeting, and she found that time was slipping by her. She grabbed a clean uniform and headed for the shower. (USS Nimitz - FO's Office - Ops - Ensign Rizoru - 1025) Having found that she was still early, she headed for the First officer’s office anyways. She thought that it was better to be early than late. She headed to the turbo lift grateful that she didn’t have to worry too much about her looks, and she realized that she wasn’t trying to impress anyone here just like the last several years on her home world. She wondered if that kind of attitude would get her into trouble, and she didn’t see how it would. The turbo lift ride was once again quiet, and she liked being on her own. She found the FO’s office easily, and she walked up to the door pressing the door chime. (Wolfe) She entered after invited, and went up to the desk. She stood at attention knowing that this man outranked her. “Sir, reporting as ordered.” She said not being as nervous as she had been when reporting in for the first time on this ship. She realized she had gotten some time to adjust to different races, and she wasn’t sure what to expect when she came into the office. She was surprised when she saw him. You reported that you wanted upgrades to StratOps, would you like me to do that now?" He asked. Wolfe regarded the man for a second and produced a PADD and resolved to look up his duty record when he was done. "Yes Lieutenant O'Neill, that would be appreciated. There are some basic changes that need to be done to the bridge station and then there are some rather more specific changes and upgrades to be done to the Strategical Operations department on deck 9. There are new holographic interfaces to be installed that make coordinating ships more efficient. You'll find the specifics in the PADD. If there are any questions, please be sure to ask me. Its more or less a complete overhaul, I know it will take some time, but we need it ready before we take control of the second fleet." "Okay, sir. I'll get right on it." Miles said. After all of the formalities of transfer and arrival had been taken care of, Walsh had barely had time to grab a quick meal before he had once again needed to prepare for departure. Geneva was a massive ediface, though and Walsh was having some difficulty finding the correct transporter room. He quickly located it on the map, however, and slung his pack to his shoulder as he set off for Deck 31 and Transporter Room 15. As was predictable, it was empty... except for the desk, chair and computer system. It was no big surprise as he knew the former FOs personal items were likely transferred straight to Geneva, if he had personal effects. Somehow to Edward, he didn't seem the type to have a lot of items in his office. Edward prefered to have a more 'personal' touch as it generally put people more at ease. One of Edward's favourite things were the ship sculptures, and he unpacked them quickly and put them on the shelves. The USS Alexander, the USS Juno, and the USS Augustus now graced the shelves. Then, the main painting went up, the USS Nimitz in all her glory flying through the cosmos. It wasn't finished, but it was a start. Edward checked the physical space, it would be a good place to have meetings like the one he had in the works now. He looked forward to this one, he hoped that the staff he summoned would be pleased with his assessment that they should take a larger leadership role within the ship's life. Edward was partially there to help them to ascend to this role. Despite the fact that Captain Sash hadn't told him, Edward had read some of the reports about his predecessor and knew there had been problems. While he didn't begrudge Hyland his adherence to protocol, he did see some issues with not having a more... 'human' touch to things. Edward walked over to his replicator and said aloud, "Plomeek tea." He then waited for the beverage to materialize. He rounded another corner and pondered why the ship's FO had asked him to come to a meeting. Usually, it was the typical, 'Welcome to our ship. We're the hardest working ship in the fleet, we engage in the harshest combat, We only want the hardest working officers, so you better work hard or get off my ship, Et cetera, Et cetera.' Paco had fallen for that rhetoric the first or second time he was newly transfered to a ship, but now he was used to it, and wrote it off has a first officer who was trying to make the impression he was tough has nails. She sat down in a nearby chair not wanting anything from the replicator. She looked around seeing another member of the crew in a nearby chair. She kept looking around not seeing much in the office except furniture. "This is a wonderful ship, or at least what I have seen of it. I haven't been here long, and I have been on duty mostly. I arrived last night, and went straight to work, not that I mind. I figure that is what I'm here for. This is my first assignment with Star Fleet, but not the first one in my life. I have had many assignments back on my homeworld." She said not wanting to go into too much detail or anything, and she felt very nervous. She didn't understand why this man made her feel so nervous. She had talked to many commanding officers before now, and she had already met her new captain. Things here seemed like they would go good for her, and nothing like that last command. She sighed, and tried her best to not look nervous or to figet. She didn't have too much trouble with not figeting, and she wondered if she was looking as nervous as she felt. (Wolfe) They were joined by the others not too long after, and she realized they had been talking for awhile. The meeting began, and she looked at the others there. She had heard his small welcome aboard speech, and wondered why he had directed that last comment to her. She knew she was one of the new ones. ~Do I really look like I am someone who would be good at leading? I didn't do so hot with the last one. Am I ready to take on any leadership roles be it even small ones? I am just not sure if this is a good idea. Should I wait and tell him after the meeting? Should I even mention it?~ She thought, very nervous about the idea of leading anything. She barely heard the rest of the meeting, just the part where her name had been mentioned. After the others left, she hesitated and stayed behind. ~Should I talk to him about this? Maybe I should just leave now and go prepare for the next meeting.~ She thought not sure what she would have said if she had mentioned this to anyone before. (Wolfe) "Well, sir, if I may speak freely?" She said looking to him. (Wolfe) "Well, this isn't easy to say, and I am not sure it is wise to mention this now and all. I noticed when we began the meeting you talked about leadership ablities. I have held a leadership role in the past, and it wasn't a small one. I was captain of a ship back home, but I had to give it up. Something bad happened to one of my crew, and I feel I could have stopped it. Maybe not, but I will never know now. I gave up my position and now I am here. I thought you might need to know about this, and I wasn't sure what you knew about me." She said still not sure this is the best thing she could have done, but now she knew it was too late to take it back. (Wolfe) (USS Nimitz - Conference Room - OPS - Ensign JG Rizoru - 1145) Riz hadn't wanted to be one of the first in the room, but she had also not wanted to be the last. She also wanted to be able to find the place without any trouble. Things had looked good, and she didn't want to mess this up in any way. This was her first meeting as a Star Fleet officer, and she wondered how this would go. She entered the room, and decided to look around before sitting down. She had a blank padd with her, and she had no idea what would happen. She saw a table and several chairs, and she saw much of nothing else. The table represented something to her, and she wasn't sure if it was good or bad. She felt like that little outcast all over again, and she was sure she was in over her head. She hadn't felt like that little outcast since that day, and she wondered if she should talk to someone about that. She saw the people there, and wanted to back up against the nearest wall and go invisible. She didn't and wondered if there was a chair with her name on it already. For example, Lieutenant Luxulyan, your shift will start with Alpha, where you'll work with Lieutenant Tagon and will bleed into Beta shift, which you'll run. That way you can benefit from his experience on the Nimitz and you can have a chance to lead during your duty shift. Lieutenant Mendez and Ensign Rizoru, you'll find your schedules arranged much the same way. Lieutenant Mendez, you'll start Gamma Shift and bleed into Alpha Shift were you'll work with Lieutenant Zzt. Ensign Rizoru, you'll start on Beta Shift with Lieutenant Bixx and bleed into Gamma Shift. Please be advised, your department chief is still your department chief, rank still matters and these things override everything in case of a problem. Also, in the events of heightened alerts, you are expected to report directly to your duty stations no matter what time it is, as is common on a starship of this class. Mr. Harrison, you'll be on the bridge during my shift, taking the right hand seat to me. I need you to get used to being a counsellor on the bridge and apprising me of the way decisions may affect either negotiations with hostile species or how they may affect the morale and well being of the crew. During alert status, that's your normal place anyway, but we're expanding your role. Are there any questions?" (Reply any) When Edward had finished responding to any questions, he stood up. (Reply any) (Posted by Jeff) Stardate:2407.02.04 (USS Nimitz - FOs Office - COUNS - Lieutenant John Harrison - 1034) Harrison got the Wolfe's office as soon as he could, but he noticed that most of the other summoned officers had already arrived. As soon as he and the remaining officer arrived, their new FO spoke. "Well, hello and thanks for being here. To start with, I know you're expecting the welcome to the ship speech, and you are welcome and if there are problems, Lieutenant Harrison is the counsellor on board. Now, to cut to the chase." Harrison supressed a smile in order to maintain his professionalism. This man was another no-nonsense officer, but then such a quality clearly worked in the position of First Officer. The counsellor listened politely as Edward Wolfe explained the new attitude to developing leadership skills, and so on. It sounded like stating the obvious, since this was the way that Harrison had always assumed was the way that starships operated, but then he realised that in assuming that this was the system in place, it was overlooked. It took little reminders like this every now and then to maintain, if not improve, the crew's efficiency. The first officer began explaining the more individual changes and Harrison focused his attention on the man as his own name was said. "Mr. Are there any questions?" Harrison could not think of any questions he needed to ask. He understood his role and the proposed expansion, though he was a little nervous about it. While he'd been on the ship for a good three or four missions now, he still felt the fear of failure. During the recent mission on Terellia, he had inwardly winced as he expressed his counsellor's opinion while looking at the irritated look in Hyland's eyes. John Harrison had a habit of stating the obvious, and it was a habit he couldn't seem to shake. He wanted to, but everytime he thought he was saying something worthwhile, he played it back in his head and realised that he was merely repeating what everyone knew. So far, during the emergency situations, his counsel had not been overly needed. Even a severely poor captain could tell that a enemy ship attacking his own with every phaser bank powered up and little to no restraint in the use of photon torpedoes was not about to settle his difference over a cup of Earl Grey. Nevertheless, Harrison was determined to do his best. Lieutenant Commander Wolfe was putting in the effort to get to know the senior officers and their abilities, as well as improve the ship. The least they could do was to cooperate and try to impress both him and the Captain. When Edward had finished responding to any questions, he stood up. "Thank you for your time, don't be late to your duty stations. Dismissed." Zach hardly cared, nor did he think his little bit of insubordination would cause any undue distress. He'd had this fight a dozen times since the war had started; his knowledge was just to great to be put aside. And if LoDona minded, well, he hid it well. "Just to say, basically, that your note did the trick. The one project we've been able to track for sure has quieted." The Admiral frowned on the screen, "We haven't been able to gauge Mystery Train, however." Falthgood snorted and slipped his antique shades back on his face. "If you suddenly have storm troopers popping onto your ship, a fleet popping behind our lines, or a massive load of Tribbles appear out of thin air onto every Klingon ship... you'll have your answer. Since you haven't, I think you also have your answer." LoDona nodded once. "I will take that under consideration. Good day, Lieutenant." The screen switched off, leaving Zach in relative silence. He kicked back from the desk and looked around his room; it was filled with PADDS and little bits of technology from half a different old civilizations, some of which were still being studied when he had free time. He shook his head, this was the life he had left, he hated it with every ounce of his being. (USS Nimitz - Conference Room - Falthgood - 1158) Zach stepped into the conference room quietly; a departure from normal times, and sat in the closest empty chair. To all appearances, he appeared a man deep in thought... something common these days in the midst of war. None of his usual upbeat attitude was in evidence, only the shades he habitually wore and his non-regulation uniform with a couple dozen pockets sewn in marked him as the 'mad scientist' he usually was. "Go ahead Ensign," was Edward's reply. He was somewhat curious what she had to say. He had read her service record, and was mostly unconcerned about her being on the vessel. "Well, this isn't easy to say, and I am not sure it is wise to mention this now and all. I thought you might need to know about this, and I wasn't sure what you knew about me," the Ensign stated. Edward sub-consciously raised an eyebrow, and knowing that most world's fleets and Starfleet were not altogether similiar, unless you were a Romulan or a Klingon. "Well Ensign, you have to start at some point. You're now a Starfleet Officer who has gone through Starfleet training. You'll also be working closely with Lieutenant Bixx. We generally work on the idea of giving people chances here and I believe you warrant a second chance for at least a beginning. However, if you don't feel you're up to the task, the only thing I can suggest to you is that you should look at enlisted crew positions as a crewman. I believe you can do better than that, but the choice is yours," replied Edward, "Now, I have work to do before the meeting and I'm sure you do as well. Have a good day." If they were going into battle on a regular basis, Zzt was determined to make sure that each and every system was running at or above peek efficiency. He even had some surprise upgrades underway. Zzt was entering a set of commands when he noticed a new scent in the air. ~What is THAT smell?~ Zzt thought as he turned and looked down at the human coming his way. ~Well he is new to be sure and he stinks.~ Zzt thought as the man spoke "Lt. Just seeing Wendy had put him in one of the best moods he had been in for a long while. Although it wasn't a really serious relationship, he still thoroughly enjoyed every moment he managed to spend with her. Jonas was sitting at the CMO's desk, looking through some files as the big doctor was attending to a patient that had entered a few moments ago. Jonas rubbed his head then looked up and asked, "Nurse, do you have that statistic report I asked for?" A dainty voice came in reply, "Not yet doctor, give me another ten minutes or so and I think it'll be done." She popped her head around the door frame, "Is that ok doctor?" Jonas smiled warmly. He enjoyed the working relationships he had developed with the rest of the nursing staff. He treated them as his friends, and they appreciated it. Jonas felt he got a lot more from the staff that way. "Yes that's..." =^= Dr. Lemar this is Holis, would you come to the high energy biophysics lab in 15 minutes please? =^= Jonas was cut off by the comm. System. He listened to the request from the Chief Science Officer. He tapped his comm. Badge and replied, "Of course, but is everything alright? Are you expecting to have a medical emergency?" =^= I am about to start Kanes investigation and I would appreciate you monitoring him as I probe him. =^= Jonas was sure that Dr. Gralen knew what he was doing, and that he just being cautious by asking him to be present. "Of course, I'll be there as soon as I'm done with these reports, Lemar out." He tapped his comm. badge, closing the channel of communication. Jonas recalled the last time he had assisted Holis. Kane had reacted to the scans in a hostile way and it had ended up with a severely injured member of security. ~Lets try and avoid such things for next time~ he thought as he pushed back his chair and stood, walking toward the replicator. Jonas tapped at the computer console bringing up some files on sedatives and neurological agents developed for use on the Borg. "I know he's not Borg but he defiantly has cybernetic tendencies." He said under his breathe as he selected a number of drugs and replicated them. He picked up a medial case and opened it, loading into it the newly replicated items. He turned to see a nurse approach him and say, "Here you go doctor, the report you asked for" and she handed a dataPADD to him. Jonas thanked the nurse, turning to place the dataPADD on the desk, "Can you assist me with something? I need to prepare something to take with me to see Doctor Gralen." Kane followed Gralen as he called for several people to join him on the research. Kane himself was directed to a table after Gralen closed the last channel. "Sorry I'm late gentlemen, I hope I haven’t missed anything" he said as he entered with smiles for all. After moving close to Kane he spoke again."So, where do you want me?" There was a panel before the table and several stations along the right hand wall of the room, Holis pointed to the closest and said. "Miles I'll need you there and Dr. Lemar," he pointed to another. "That will be your station. I'll take the diagnostics panel nearest Mr. Kane. He didn’t often get chance to listen to music, but for some reason he couldn't get this one tune out of his head. Jonas stopped whistling and sighed, making a conscious effort to stop the tune running around his head. He checked his dataPADD, ~Damn, late again ... I hope Holis won't mind~ he thought, returning the dataPADD to his side. In his other hand he carrier the prepared medical kit. Inside he had prepared all kinds of sedatives and drugs which might help to subdue Kane should he react in a similar way to last time. Jonas realised he really hadn't spent much time reviewing the results from the last set of tests, something he would be sure to rectify after this session. It was a potentially fascinating subject, only Jonas hadn't had much time to pursue it lately. The turbolift slowed and the doors slide open. As Jonas stepped into the corridor he instantly recognised the familiar décor and corridor arrangement of deck six. This deck was often very quiet, housing all the science labs onboard. Jonas made his way straight up the corridor and within moments he had arrived at his destination, the high energy biophysics lab. As he entered he noticed his two colleagues, along with the patient in question, Kane. "Sorry I'm late gentlemen, I hope I haven’t missed anything" he said as he made his entrance. There were a lot of details to hash out and very little time to hash them out in. The door chime was a welcome relief to his headache. "Come," he said. The door opened and a young woman stepped in. At first Sash had tried to argue that the last thing that he needed was a Yeoman under foot, least of all new graduate from the academy. But with his duties increased with the battle fleet, he realized that an adminstrative aid would be helpful. "Yeoman Rozen I presume?" he asked politely. She started to think that maybe the reports about this man were overly stated, but, then she looked more closely at his desk. There were reports all over the place and it looked like he was trying to sift through them to find the most important information that he needed. "Sir, Yes, Sir." Ansia replied quickly as she saluted to him. "Sit down En...Yeoman," Sash pointed to the chair across from him. "Tell me what brings you to my ship in this position. A Petty Officer, low in rank, highly educated however. Edward cocked an eyebrow. For the last few years, the Axanar had been working quietly on the Nimitz as part of the science staff, no blemishes or problems with his record, largely unremarkable as well though. He has kept so quiet, we didn't even know we had him on board, but..." Rhys stopped, noticing the female crewman in Sash's office and composed himself, "I didn't realise you had company, Sir. I apologize for the intrusion." (Reply Sash, Rozen) "Yes, well... as for the person. His name is T'lexinath, he's Axanar. Well over 150 years old. Anyway though, he's been studying temporal mechanics for years. He holds no doctorate, but he's probably the closest thing we have onboard to an expert on 'time'," Edward handed the PADD to Sash, "He's a Petty Officer 2nd Class. Dropped out of the Academy, studied relevant areas of science on his home planet. Has several degrees. He's kind of blended into the woodwork around here, but we can probably use his expertise in this instance." (Reply Sash) "Sir, should I invite him to our meeting?" asked Edward. (Reply Sash) (Posted by Jeff) Stardate:2407.02.04 (USS Nimitz - Readyroom - First Officer - Lieutenant Commander Edward Wolfe - 1142) Sash nodded. "By all means. Any help is better than none at this point in time." "Aye Sir," Edward responded and tapped his badge, summoning T'lexinath. "Very well," Sash said. "Shall we head down to the conference room." "Yes, I suppose it is that time," replied Wolfe, "Abandon all hope?". He heard the yeoman comment that she was following. Edward noticed Sash pausing to look onto the bridge for a moment... considering something... concerned about his people perhaps. This wasn't going to be an easy mission. In some ways it was suicide. Edward knew the problems, the pratfalls and the issues. (USS Nimitz - Readyroom - First Officer - Lieutenant Commander Edward Wolfe - 1152) The small entourage entered the readyroom. Edward took a chair to the right of the Captain and considered how he was going to deal with things next. "We have a few real issues with this one, not least of all being technical problems. Did we get any of the technical information from past Enterprise missions or any other ships that were involved in time travel? I'd imagine it'll have to be studied," said Edward while waiting for the crew to arrive, "And... maybe we need to blow off some steam before we arrive at the transfer site." (Reply Sash) "Don't know... party? Games night? Concert? Rock climbing in the holodeck? Anything for a few hours to divert people from the fact that this mission is more than a little insane," replied Edward. S/he had been working most of the morning cleaning up after the last experiment. This seemed to be a fairly constant event in hir life. S/he didn't mind though, the job gave hir the opportunity to persue hir interests on hir off time without having all the responsibility and pressure of being an officer. S/he finished indexing some equipment that had been offloaded from Geneva when hir comm badge chirped. =^=Petty Officer T'lexinath, this is Lieutenant Commander Wolfe, please report to the Conference Room for 1200 hrs and be prepared to brief the group on temporal matters. We have need of your abilities.=^= ~Wolfe? I don't remember a Wolfe? Who is he? Oh well, I kind of stay out of things anyway.~ "Ummm... yes sir," T'lex responded.~What could they be needing temporal information for?~ T'lex gathered together a few PADDS and made a bee-line for the turbolift. (USS Nimitz - Conference Room - Scientific Personnel - Petty Officer 2nd Class T'lexinath - 1158) T'lex walked quickly into the room, padds in hands. S/he walked to the Captain and who s/he supposed was this Wolfe person s/he'd talked to and presented hirself. "Petty Officer 2nd Class T'lexinath reporting for duty, Sirs," s/he stated aloud. Wolfe looked at the Axanarian for a moment and nodded. "Please, Petty Officer, have a seat. I see you've brought some information, that's good. We'll need it." S/he nodded briskly to the Lieutenant Commander and sat down, collecting the PADDs in front of hirself. It opened admitting someone that started talking to the Captain as if he was there alone. She immediately recognized that he was part of the command crew by the color of uniform, but, she had not recognized him from the crew roster. He was a Lieutenant Commander and she figured that he must be a new addition. The crew roster had a Commander Jeff Hyland and this was definitely not him. "Sir! He has kept so quiet, we didn't even know we had him on board, but..." the man was saying before he stopped noticing she was there, "I didn't realize you had company, Sir. I apologize for the intrusion." Ansia waited for the captain to reply to the individual as she felt it was not her place to do so. (reply Sash) "Yes, well... as for the person. His mental fade was soon brought to an end by Wolfe's voice asking about past technical data about time travel. Sash pulled out on of his padds and handed it to Wolfe. "This is all of the data that we have available," he said. "I would imagine that Mr. Falthood would be able to clarify anything that isn't on the report. His name is mentioned a couple of times. I'd like Luxuliyan to get together with him first." He took a deep breath and stretched. "As for blowing off steam, what did you have in mind?" "Don't know... party? Games night? Concert? Rock climbing in the holodeck? Anything for a few hours to divert people from the fact that this mission is more than a little insane," replied Edward. Sash thought for a moment. It would be a really good idea to have some kind of attention diverting activity over the next couple of days. Sash's personal preference was for some kind of physical activity, rather than a sedentary party. He, himself wasn't much of a party person, but he knew how good it was for the crew. "How about a scavenger hunt?" Sash suggested. It was an outlet for a lot of different people. (reply Wolfe, Rozen) (posted by Al Muir) Stardate:2407.02.04 (USS Nimitz- Ready Room- FO - Lieutenant Commander Edward Wolfe - 1154) Edward raised a brow at the thought of a scavenger hunt. He looked at the captain and chuckled aloud at the thought of teams of crew bumping into each other looking for trinkets and other things throughout the ship. They could even record it and watch it later, making the event doubly pleasurable. "Yes, that would be... entertaining... for everyone. Lets just keep the objects away from a time theme." (Reply Sash) Edward looked at the Captain. "Do we want to plan it ourselves, or delegate it? It comes down to participate or watch. Watching is often, amusing... however there are also benefits to taking part. What do you think?" Edward was starting to think he was going to enjoy serving on this ship... immensely. The Captain almost seemed to think like him... or maybe he thought like the Captain? And then Bixx walked in, he hadnt seen her in a while not properly since his first mission. She walked over and after saying her hello's sat next to him and said "Hello Jono, haven't seen you on the bridge in awhile. Been busy patrolling the halls?" she asked with a wink and a smile. Jono looked round, he smiled back then answered her "Yeah thats exactly what ive been doing! It looks like we've got some new faces on the ship, met any of them yet?" He asked genuininly interested since he hadnt seen any of them except the one that was sat in the room - he recongnised this particular person from his bio! (Reply Bixx) (Posted by Jono) Stardate:2407.02.04 (USS Nimitz - Conference Room - OPs - Lieutenant Dartena Bixx - 1200) Dartena looked at Jono as he asked about the 'new' people. She smiled. There had been a number of new faces. Some of them... startling... in some ways. Despite being a Bolian, she did find some races startling at times. The Anaxarian had almost 250 years of history with Starfleet, first on the opposing side, and then joining, and it was possible that several Anaxari were still around to remember it with their 400 year lifespan. She still found them somewhat, unnerving... especially with the constantly blinking inner eyelids. "Well, I guess on a ship of 800, you can't know everyone. We've had a lot of new additions since we put in at Geneva. Crew swapouts, and the like. You know that Lieutenant Commander Wolfe is our new FO? Just minted this morning," she said. Dartena had been on the bridge when he logged his command codes. She didn't really know the man, but he seemed okay. As long as he didn't treat her like the last one did, she'd be happy. She could have sworn that she smiled at the Captain with something other than a courtesy smile. She got the distinct impression that those two had something going on between them. But, since it was an officer thing and none of her business, she dismissed it. She also watched as the Lieutenant said hello to both the captain and the First Officer with a quick glance at her. She was also greeting the others that had entered the room. She finally spoke to her and the other enlisted person that was at the meeting. "Hello Crewman... Petty Officer," she said nodding to both the young woman and the petty officer. "Hello Sir," stated T'lex nodding and smiling at her, "I am Petty Officer T'lexinath of the science division." "I'm Lieutenant Dartena Bixx, I work OPs. Good to meet you, both of you." "Hello Sir," Ansia followed T’lex’s example, "I am Yeoman Ansia Rozen." "Hello Jono, haven't seen you on the bridge in awhile. Been busy patrolling the halls?" she asked with a wink and a smile. Ansia then sat quiet waiting for the meeting to start thinking that she would have to get use to these type of meetings being the captain’s yeoman. Others might view it as bad tardiness but Jonas always viewed it as just simply busy. He was the most skilled doctor onboard next to Dr Kinkaid, and as such had a very busy schedule. Of course it might have been easier to handle if he hadn't agreed to help out Dr. Gralen in the Biophysics lab, but then he enjoyed the challenge of new and exciting tasks and he wouldn't have his schedule any other way than crammed. He stepped into the observation lounge, which doubled as the conference room for the Nimitz. He noticed the table was nearly full, all but two or three faces around it familiar. He quickly made his way to a seat and settled himself ready to take in the new information about to be fed to him. As he waited for the information to begin he paid particular attention to the man sat beside the captain. He had heard about a new first officer being assigned as Commander Hyland was transferred to Geneva. Being on the medical staff he was one of the few who knew this was partly due to medical reasons. He made a mental note to get to know this new commander a little better. Hopefully he would have the chance to start on a better footing than with his predecessor. Miles didn't mind, though, he enjoyed working with Holis and Jonas. ~Hm, new people.~ Miles thought as he took his usual seat. He heard some new engineers were going to join his team, and made a mental note to get to know them. He waited patiently for the meeting to start. As a matter of fact he would rather be spaced than have to face a roomful of accusing looks as he slunk to a seat. Fortunately though everyone except the Captain appeared to overlook his tardiness or were engrossed in something else, Sash tended to frown on tardy officers. The Betazoid gave a sigh as he settled into a seat and looked pointedly away from the Captain who appeared satisfied he had made his silent point. She looked around at the other new crew, and she felt awkward. She listened to everything that was being said, taking notes down on any and everything necessary. She wasn't sure on what she needed to note, and she felt very lost here among this group. She wondered if she should say anything, but she wasn't sure what. She had never dealt with time travel before, and didn't know of anyone who had. She had a very bad feeling about all of this, and it just wouldn't go away. She didn't have anything to say really, and hoped that this wouldn't be too difficult of a mission for this crew. When they were dismissed, she quickly got up and walked out of the room, but she made sure she wasn't one of the first ones to leave as she didn't want to look to eager to leave. She needed to talk to someone, but she wasn't sure who to talk to. She felt so alone and confused, and she didn't want to talk to the counsellor. What she wanted was someone who might be able to relate, what she needed was her mother, and it felt strange to finally have these feelings. She felt uncomfortable with all this, and she had no idea who to turn to. She had also heard about the scavenger hunt, but she had no idea what this involved. She was upset by everything that was going on, and she wished she wasn't such an outsider in all of his. She knew that this wouldn't be easy to be among a crew with different races, and that she would have problems relating, but she didn't except it to be anything like she was going through at that time. She walked over to a window and started to stare out of it wishing she was very far away from this moment and time. He saw Jonas walk in, he nodded and smiled at the doctor, he hadnt seen him in a while, he could do with a chat. Jonas had become one of Jonos friends, he had started on the ship at the same time as him, so they kind of got to know each other a bit! (Reply any) (Posted by Jono) Stardate:2407.02.04 (Runabout Talisman - Approaching USS Nimitz - Ensign Komag - 1145) Komag was not having a good day. Although, given the events of the previous week, today was just another in a series of 'not good' days. On the upside, today was at least the most tolerable of his recent spell of 'not good' days, so that at least was promising. The tight titanium bracelets that he wore around his sweaty orange wrists were not as unpleasant as the previous pair, though they did still cause him considerable discomfort. Not that he would complain. Not that he would dare. He listened as his pilot and escort hailed the Sovereign Class starship that they had followed from Starbase Geneva. "USS Nimitz, this is the Runabout Talisman from Starbase Geneva requesting permission to dock," the denobulan pilot called. Though he had not spent a lot of time around Federation officers, or at least not when they were on duty, Komag could sense something in the replying voice that suggested that he was not one of the regular senior staff, but was instead a secondary shift watching the bridge during this passive moment. "Talisman, this is the Nimitz. State your passengers, cargo and purpose." "Two passengers, myself and one ferengi ensign, no cargo. I need to escorting the ensign to your captain," his escort replied, adding, "on Admiral LoDana's orders." There was a surprisingly long pause, presumably while the voice on the Nimitz checked with his captain, before the communication system called out: "Approved, Talisman. Head for main shuttle bay." The pilot guided the runabout gracefully between the warp nacelles of the Nimitz and eased the craft into the shuttlebay. As the impressive vessel became closer, the sweat on Komag's sizeable forehead began to spread and swell. He felt his eyes widen and his breathing rate increase. "Please, Lieutenant," he said, "This was not part of our agreement. Can't you take me back to Geneva? I can assist with the running of the station, or arrange with some merchants to get me safely back to my bar - " "Regardless of whether or not I trust you to do so - and I don't," the pilot interrupted, "do you really trust yourself to talk to merchants anymore?" The denobulan hadn't turned, but Komag could sense the malicious smile in the man's voice. As the runabout touched down in the shuttle bay, Komag clung to his chair. "I will not go," he spat like a petulant child." His escort stood, turned to him and picked him up by the scruff of the neck, pulling him away from the chair with ease despite the Ferengi's determined grip. "Yes," he said calmly, "you will." He removed a small multi-buttoned device from his pocket and waved it mockingly at Komag's face. "Now, are you going to walk to meet your captain, or would you like me to parade you around your new home like this?" Komag desperately wanted to come up with a fierce comeback, emphasising that this ship was not his home, and its commanding officer was not his captain, but he eyed the device with fear, wiped the sweat away from his cranial ridges and shook his head in defeat. "Come along, Komag," the officer taunted, walking towards the back of the shuttle, "I've got more important things to do today." (USS Nimitz - Bridge - Ensign Komag - 1200) As the turbolift doors slid open, they brought with them the urgency of Komag's situation and the determination to get free returned to the forefront of his mind. "Lieutenant, I know you think you're following proceedure, but let's think of this another way. Think of it as a business venture and - " "Not another Rule of Acquisition, Komag," the lieutentant replied wearily. "Now that you mention it, one does spring to mind. Rule 78 - When the going gets tough, the tough change the Rules." The denobulan stopped in his tracks and wheeled on the desperate Ferengi, smiling with false pleasure. "That's just what we've done, Komag, especially for you. Usually, we'd have beamed you back to the brig of that ship you were on." "But you've got me all wrong. I'm not an engineer, I'm a bartender!" Komag protested His escort turned and walked up to the doors to the Captain's ready room, saying, "I haven't seen many bartenders do what you did." Komag watched as the man pressed the button by the door and winced as he heard the door chime sound. (reply Sash) The denobulan stepped through the open doors. Komag didn't. The denobulan stepped back, extended an arm to pick up Komag by the scruff of the next once more and marched him up to the captain's desk, placing him on the floor like some item for sale. "Captain," his escort said, "I am Lieutenant Thlax of Starbase Security. Admiral LoDana charged me with escorting your new engineer to you." (reply Sash) "My apologies, sir, but the decision was only made moments after the Nimitz left. This is Ensign Komag, though his rank is only honourary, so to speak." "Honourary?" Komag spat, "If I am an honourary ensign, then why i am treated so dishonestly?" "We picked him up about a week ago from one of Doneitz's ships that we attacked," Thlax continued, ignoring Komag, "They had him held in the brig for treason and attempted sabotage." "Outrageous!" Komag cried, "I am not a saboteur, I'm a victim of circumstance. How was I to know that the artifact was an explosive device?" "During the attack," Thlax contiunued, "he managed to escape and, through his remarkable engineering skills, managed to lower our vessel's shields and beam himself over. He managed to convice the Captain to escort him to Geneva, where we've been holding him for a week while the Admiral decides what to do with him. Then, this morning, it was decided that he would be assigned to one of our ships and work as an engineer, in exchange for our protection from Doneitz's fleet. I'm afraid the Nimitz drew the short straw." "How dare you, you seven-foot freak!" Komag cried out, "I offer my services and you make it sound as if I am some prisoner." Thlax, smiling as Komag's opportunistic change of attidude, merely replied, "You are - even before you came to us." Before the Ferengi could start up again, Thlax continued to address Sash, handing him a PADD and the device. "The admiral's orders are there, sir, and the device is for the bracelets he's wearing." (reply Sash) "They're a new toy we've developed to keep Komag in check. The control you have has a variety of functions including paralysing his hands, giving him a brief electric shock and injecting a harmless tranquilising toxin into his bloodstream - it wears off in about ten minutes." (reply Sash) Desperate times, desperate measures, sir. We're still not entirely sure how trustworthy Komag is, but i'll let him plead his case to you. Requesting permission to return to Geneva, Captain Sash." (reply Sash) Thlax turned to Komag and wagged his finger at him like a scolding parent. "Behave yourself, Komag," he smiled in an unusually friendly manner, and walked out of the room. (reply Sash) (posted by James Batchelor)
